Frequently Asked Questions

This FAQ is designed to help you feel informed and confident as you consider starting therapy. If you don’t see your question here, I invite you to schedule a free consultation or to reach out directly.

Getting Started

  • Do you offer a free consultation?

Scheduling a free consultation is easy and can be done directly through my online scheduling system or by contacting me. The consultation is a brief, no-obligation conversation where we can talk about what you’re looking for and help you decide if my practice feels like a good fit.

  • How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Many people start therapy because something doesn’t feel quite right, even if they can’t fully identify the issue. Therapy can be helpful if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected or simply wanting more support or change in your life. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy, I can meet you where you are.

  • What happens after the free consultation?

After the consultation, you decide whether you’d like to move forward. If it feels like a good fit, we can schedule your first appointment and send any necessary intake forms. There’s no pressure to commit, the goal is for you to feel comfortable, informed, and supported in your decision.

What to Expect in Therapy

  • What can I expect during our first appointment?

Your first therapy session is a chance for us to get to know each other in a welcoming, judgment-free space. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, your goals and any questions you may have. You don’t have to have it all ‘figured out’ before you arrive. We’ll also review important information about confidentiality, policies and how therapy works so you know what to expect going forward.

  • How do you work with clients and will I have homework?

Therapy is collaborative and tailored to your needs. Sessions may include conversation, reflection, skill-building and practical tools you can use in daily life. Some clients find between-session practices helpful, while others prefer to focus on in-session work. We’ll check in regularly about your progress, talk openly about how therapy is feeling and adjust the frequency or focus as needed.

  • How long will I need to be in therapy?

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and what you’d like support with. Some clients come for short-term therapy focused on a specific concern, while others choose longer-term therapy for deeper or ongoing work. We’ll check in regularly about your progress and adjust as needed.

In-Person & Online Therapy Options

  • Do you offer in-person or online sessions?

I offer in-person therapy at my offices in Lacey and Tumwater, Washington, both conveniently located near I-5. I also provide secure online therapy throughout Washington State with more flexible appointment times.

The Lacey office is accessible with an elevator. The Tumwater office has stairs and is not accessible for clients who need an elevator.

Fees, Insurance & Policies

  • What are your fees and accepted forms of payment?

The fee for the initial intake session is $180 and ongoing therapy sessions are $150 per session. Sessions run for 53 to 57 minutes.

Payment is processed through the secure client portal on the day of service. Major credit and debit cards are accepted, as well as Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards.

  • Do you accept insurance or provide a superbill?

I am in network with Premera, Lifewise, and select Blue Card plans (such as some out of state Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans). As a small practice, I manage my own billing and limit the insurance plans I work with so that I can prioritize client care.

If I am not in network with your plan, I am able to provide a superbill upon request. A superbill can be submitted to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your specific plan.

I encourage you to contact your insurance provider directly to understand your deductible, coinsurance, out-of-network mental health benefits and potential reimbursement rates.

  • What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please let me know as soon as possible. The most secure way to reach me is through the client portal and you may also text or email for scheduling changes. Avoid sharing personal health information if emailing or texting.

To avoid a late cancellation or no‑show fee, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. The late cancellation or no‑show fee is $150.

My full cancellation policy is included in the practice policies and reviewed during your first session so expectations are clear from the start.
